1. Is my current policy still valid?
Yes. Your policy will continue to renew as usual, following Main Street America's underwriting guidelines and New York State regulations.
2. Do I need to take any immediate action?
No immediate action is required. We are monitoring your policy and will contact you if a better option becomes available.
3. Why is Main Street America discontinuing personal insurance?
Main Street America has made a strategic decision to exit the personal insurance market nationwide. You will receive an official notice from them soon.
4. Will I lose my coverage?
No. Your policy will remain in force until we replace your coverage or you receive legal notice from Main Street that your policy will be non-renewed subject to NYS' stringent guidelines. We are proactively working to ensure you have uninterrupted coverage.
5. What is Safeco’s role in this?
You may receive a quote from Safeco on our behalf. We will review any quotes for accuracy and value and contact you if it’s a good fit.
6. When will I hear from you about my renewal?
We typically begin reviewing and quoting policies 30–45 days before your renewal date. If we find a better option, we’ll reach out to you directly. If you do not hear from us, your Main Street America policy remains your best option and will renew.
